Speaking of his work he attests, “My art is mainly humorous figurative paintings of people interacting. Naturally, this has its foundations in my lifelong dedication to portraiture, caricature, humorous illustration and character design.”

Nigel has a strong and dedicated following for his fine art paintings and Gallery Rouge is therefore pleased to display a new collection of original oil works from the artist, entitled ‘Country Companions’.

Reflections of Europe

Reflections of Europe

Since Gallery Rouge became talented American painter John-Mark Gleadow’s exclusive European representatives, the artists has increasingly become fascinated by the culture of his newest collectors.  Continuing to fuse book spine, still life and figurative painting his newest edition ‘Reflections of Europe’ has already caused a stir both sides of the Atlantic.  The work is a true homage to the greatest attributes the continent has to offer, from famous faces to architectural landmarks.

“The wonderful thing about working in this vain is how limitless the subject matter can be and how it makes for a logical way of juxtaposing entirely different topics, producing a work of art that’s beautiful as a whole, not just aesthetically, but thematically as well.”

Whether you are native to these fantastic countries, holiday maker or culture and travel enthusiast, this is a fine tribute and a magnificent painting.

It was a delight to welcome Mark Spain for his first solo exhibition at Gallery Rouge. The extensive collection of orginal work demonstrated the breadth of his style, with strong figurative work fused with city backdrops. This was also an opportunity for clients to view six new limited edition pieces prior to general public release. The reception of the work was strong, with ten pieces selling on the attendance day alone.

Mark spent his formative years establishing a successful printmaking studio in Kent, where he honed his etching and collagraph technique. His fortunes turned after the storm of October 1997 when he was commissioned to create an etching of Kew Gardens, and thus begun his artistic career in landscape paintings. Other commissions include pieces for NatWest Bank and the Dorchester Hotel.

Approximately ten years ago Mark began to explore other areas of imagery including abstract work. It was however his figurative paintings that became an instant hit and today he loves exploring and expanding ideas based on the female form. Movement is a key to many of his pieces as well as form, texture and colour.
