Many will know the Henley Festival for its strong musical influence. Held annually, it has been attracting tens of thousands of visitors for over 25 years, and in the process has become one of Britain ’s leading outdoor cultural events. Taking place over five days between July 8th and 12th, the event featured the best in classical jazz, opera, comedy, dance, street theatre, rock and firework spectaculars.
In addition to music, the Henley Festival has a strong visual art presence. I was delighted that Eric Waugh, an artist exclusively represented by Gallery Rouge in the UK , was in attendance. Eric flew over especially from Canada for the event and I took the opportunity to catch up with him. Better known for his strong and vibrant abstract work, Eric has been working on a collection of figurative work which he showcased at Henley . In addition Eric was thrilled to paint live on stage in harmony with jazz orchestra Ronnie Scott’s Allstars, the painting being auctioned for charity.
