Gallery Rouge was pleased to play host to Chris and Steve Rocks on Friday 26th June where they launched their latest Collectable Limited Editions and some specially selected Original Paintings.  The ‘Rocks Brothers’ as they are affectionately known hail from Newcastle, and have quickly established themselves as something of a unique phenomena in the art world.

Their work is created in a manner that would be unthinkable to most of us, in that every composition represents a full and equal collaboration between them. Their extraordinary working relationship becomes more understandable when we learn that they are twins who were born seven minutes apart. After academic success at school they went on to study art together first at college and then at university. They had always been extremely close but as time passed they realised that they shared an uncannily similar style and that the art they were creating individually seemed to have come from the same place.

That the brothers share a talent is not surprising but that their inspiration and interpretation is so attuned to one another is quite remarkable. When they decided to use their combined energy and creativity to produce a painting it was simply an experiment for them, but both found it to be an amazing experience; instead of cramping one another’s style they found it was liberating to work together, and since embarking on this joint artistic enterprise, they have held hugely successful exhibitions in prestigious galleries all over the country.
